Slowly, the sun begins to rise over the mountain, and the coastal road winds past small coves and villages. After a while, we reach a black sand beach—approximately 500 meters long—that is featured in every guidebook. After a brief visit to the local church, we continue our journey. A few kilometers further on, we leave the main route and drive up into the mountains to a church, where we stop to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view.

To return to the coastal road, we take a small side road that leads us to the northernmost point of Cap Corse. We drive past small weekend cottages and over rolling hills until we reach the Cap itself. After a brief stop for a swim, we continue on to a small village featuring numerous cafés and a magnificent marina, where a lively bustle prevails.

After stopping for a coffee and covering a few kilometers, we rejoin the coastal road; on the western side, it transforms into a wide main thoroughfare that carries us all the way to Bastia. After exploring the city, we continue on to our accommodation in Saint Florent. Before that, however, a little treat awaits us on the itinerary. There is a small mountain road here that climbs to an altitude of nearly 1,000 meters. On the ascent, one simply needs to keep an eye out for the sheep and cows that roam freely throughout the area. Upon reaching the summit, the reward is a magnificent view overlooking Bastia and its surroundings. The route sees very little traffic; we encountered only a single motorcycle carrying locals.
