Motorcycle Tour Sicily (to the boot of Europe)

Day 5 (through Calabria)

Today we'll pass by magnificent sandy beaches with sparkling blue waters. The route is only 176 km long. Since it's not a long trip, you can either include a day trip to Amalfi or arrive early at the end of the day's journey and enjoy a (half) day at the beach.

We follow the coastal road along the sea, separated only by a pine forest. Short connecting roads lead to beach bars and the white sandy beaches.

Before things get monotonous, we head inland to the town of Paestum. Even as we drive by, you can see a temple on the left. According to the tourist office, this is the best-preserved Greek temple complex in the world! You can easily spend an hour visiting. However, don't underestimate the summer heat if you plan to visit the temples in motorcycle gear.

After the short detour inland, we head back towards the coast. The next section is one of the top 10 in Italy! Here, a coastline similar to the Amalfi Coast unfolds, but without the tourist crowds. The landscape is comparable, the road is wide and well-maintained, a dream for motorcyclists, especially since there are hardly any cars on the road.

First, we head south, parallel to the coastal strip we've just visited. Then we wind our way up the mountain, enjoying several fantastic panoramic views. At the top, we ride through the village of Lentiscosa on the narrow main street, where handcrafted umbrellas are strung across it. It's so beautiful that we decide to turn around and ride through again. Afterward, we head back to the coast. From the cliffs, just a few meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea, we enjoy more and more beautiful views of the water and the islands offshore. It's a wonderful postcard landscape. The route ends in the seaside resort of Praia a Mare with its wide pebble beach and crystal-clear water.
