Motorcycle tour of Sicily (to the boot of Europe)

Day 9 (Sicily's 3 coasts)

A long day packed with impressions (approximately 300 km). Passing through one or two lively towns, we followed a coastal road that this time led us to a lagoon with salt pans and windmills. The great thing about it is that the coastal road is one-way for about 8 km, so you can enjoy the scenery even as a driver. Colorful salt pans, windmills, and gleaming white salt mounds invite numerous photo stops. Saturated with the surreal colors, we drove to the port city of Trapani. If you manage to reach the fish market before noon, you'll encounter fishermen loudly trying to sell their freshly caught fish. A fantastic spectacle. We left Trapani for Erice, and after just a few meters, we were captivated! The winding roads and the stunning views of Trapani ensure that this is a route we'll never forget. All too soon, we reached a village on the mountain. Here, things are still much as they were in the Middle Ages – except for the restaurants and patisseries, which are entirely modern! After a short walk, we head down the other side of the hill, past stacks of tires, remnants of a rally, towards the coast. Since we're still making good time, we follow the side road to Capo San Vito. We see stunning bays, drive through the town of San Vito, and continue along the road to the gates of a national park. After a brief stretch on busy roads, we later turn inland. We drive through tunnels up to a mountain pass (860 m altitude) with a historical site. Descending towards Palermo, we pass through a village with Albanian roots. The route ends in a suburb of Palermo.
