Day 4 (Naples hinterland)

Length: 266 km

The planned route for day 4 covers approximately 266 km and leads through the hinterland of Naples. The focus is on avoiding major, busy roads. We initially follow a busy road before turning off towards the mountains. The route winds its way uphill through a pristine, mountainous regional park with forests and lakes, providing habitat for golden eagles and wolves. During the week, it feels like you're alone on the road. We skirt two picturesque lakes. We look down at the first lake and head for the shore of the second. We leave the park on a winding mountain road that boasts numerous panoramic viewpoints. Once in the valley, we drive through rural areas and several villages. It's almost 120 km to the next scenic section, kilometers that unfortunately seem to drag on. The second section is a small, unexpected gem. The road meanders through shady chestnut forests and over a secluded mountain pass (843 m altitude). After that, it's a quick descent to the coast where the route ends.
