Route Description
The Assietta Ridge Road is one of the most iconic off-road routes in the Maritime Alps. It combines breathtaking alpine scenery with a relatively accessible driving experience.
Running between the Val di Susa and Val Chisone in Piedmont, the route climbs from around 2,000 to 2,550 meters and stretches up to 40 km along a spectacular high-altitude ridge.
The track features coarse gravel and is subject to seasonal closures and access restrictions. A barrier limits entry on certain days (see guide for details).
Suitable for 4x4 vehicles and most adventure bikes, the route is moderately challenging, with a speed limit of 30 km/h and a vehicle weight restriction of 3.5 tons.

The Assietta Ridge Road truly offers breathtaking views, especially in summer. If you stay flexible, it’s sometimes possible to ride outside the official closure times—of course with caution, as conditions can change significantly depending on the weather. This route should not be missing from any Maritime Alps itinerary!
