In the heart of the wild Maritime Alps, two true natural gems are hidden: Lago Nero and the Sette Colori region. Lago Nero impresses with its dark, almost mystical water, reflecting the surrounding mountains and shifting in a mysterious way depending on the light. Only a few off-road and hiking routes lead here – which is exactly what makes this place so special. The Sette Colori (“Seven Colors”) get their name from the exceptionally colorful layers of rock and minerals that paint the landscape in shades of red, yellow, green, and violet. Set among old military roads, rugged passes, and spectacular viewpoints, this area creates an almost surreal Alpine scenery that is especially popular with off-road adventurers and photographers.

Route Description Lago Nero and Lago di Sette Colori (Seven Colours Lakes) offer a stunning setting when the weather is clear. After turn ing off the main road, a gravel track begins, leading us along alpine pasture roads and past many grazing cows up to over 2,000 meters quite quickly. As the route mostly follows open mountainside terrain, it offers great views over the valley and the surrounding peaks. Several tracks branch off up here, but if you take the correct one, you will eventually reach a lake located near the Italian–French border. Nearby, you can see a hill where several enduro riders have attempted the climb. After a long break, the descent begins. It passes a ski resort and then continues through the forest, where small holiday cabins can be seen on both sides of the track.
