| As we drive from the paved road onto the dirt track, a canyon appears, over which about 20 griffon vultures are circling. These birds have a wingspan of about 2 meters. We see a parking area where animal carcasses lie; it must be a feeding station set up for the vultures. We take a short break and watch the birds as they land. |

| The journey continues along a gravel road, always following the edge of a canyon. The scenery here is stunning, with rugged rock formations everywhere. After a few more kilometers, we find ourselves in the heart of the canyon, driving through an old, dry riverbed. Ten-meter-high rock walls rise on either side. We then cross a small ford and, after several more kilometers, reach civilization again. |
