The Sierra Nevada doesn't just have a melodious name; it also boasts 3,000-meter-high mountains and a wealth of stunning scenery.
Anyone planning a day trip to the Sierra Nevada should also make a detour to Gaudix. This small town is surrounded by bizarre, jagged peaks and has a beautiful town center with a magnificent cathedral. From there, it's a few more kilometers along the paved road until we reach the starting point of today's tour. Although everything in Spain is modern, you still see some people here who don't prefer to travel by car. The route follows a wide, gravel track, always running along the mountainside through the Sierra Nevada. Small streams, springs, and picnic areas appear frequently. Small fords with a water depth of 10 cm also need to be crossed. The track takes us up to 2,140 meters, offering fantastic views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Almost all roads within the national park are closed to vehicles, except for this one.
